As you can see by the date of this post I have had a couple of weeks away from my workshop and any blogging.  I think I needed it, but also I think time has flown once again and I am in demand to do some pieces for two galleries and a commission for a customer.  So back to work and stop grumbling!!!  I gave my workshop a partial spring clean which always gives me the kick up the behind needed to start work on new projects as its all spick & span. But I’ve only done half and a good sweep & dust so all is good. As you can see by the photos I’m doing boats on wood and also some little boat people as they are popular in Busselton because they are small and easily able to travel home with you. I’ve done all the actual vessels and chosen the wood for the bases which is always good fun and Ive made a list of all the further things to do. Im going to do a couple of markets hopefully, one before Christmas and a few in the new year so I need to change tack of my usual art pieces as markets like small, easily carried and packed things!!! So the next few weeks should be fun as Im going to do decorative wall tiles, magnets, mobiles, some jewellery and local greeting cards. I’m not giving away to much at the moment as I havnt started the smaller pieces yet, but I used to do lots of markets a few years back and really enjoyed them and the interaction & feedback from customers. So I will keep you posted…

IMG_1482I went to Busselton today to check how my exhibition is going and to say Hello to the girls at Artgeo. Things looked really good and there have been some sales so that is great, I’m very happy with the exposure and peoples comments as well. Thankyou to all who took the time to visit my exhibition. While there I visited Celia Clare who has taken up studio residence in a lovely old room at the old stables behind the Courthouse Gallery. There are three residencies there at the moment and worth a visit if you are in the street. Its so nice to have people come to talk to you and look at your work. Good Luck to Celia. I also had the privilage to visit the “Old Butter Facory” which is home to the Busselton Pottery Group. What a fantastic venue they have to meet and work together and inspire each other in their ceramic endeavours. They currently have a fab exhibition on of all the members work and the variety on offer was fantastic. I am a small ceramic bowl collector, which I have from all over the world, and I added to my collection today in the form of two sweet little bowls from this exbo, the glaze colours are lovely and I could have gone mad (love ceramics) They have very good facilities at the pottery for firing and glazing and it has plenty of room for there own exhibitions. Well done to everyone there at Busselton Pottery Group.

IMG_1377Im off to Busselton tomorrow to check on the exhibition and to check OUT the Busselton Pottery Groups exhibition called “Mini to Maxi”sounds very interesting, I would have loved to gone last night to their opening but had another engagement so tomorrow it is. Im really looking forward to seeing other peoples ceramic work, I need a change of visual focus from my own art. Ive got “cabin fever” been in the workshop tooooooo long. I need some fresh country air and a browse around another studio and beautiful Busso, I will make sure I take some photos and let you know how it goes.

IMG_1313 IMG_1316 IMG_1317I opened the kiln and “wallah” it was such a relief, everything was ok as I only have a few days now to get everything in order for the exhibition which starts on Saturday 11th January. I have a few finishing touches to apply to some different sculptural pieces and then I will take some photos and post them so everyone can see what I am putting on show for two weeks in Busselton. If you are in the area please call in and have a browse as I am very happy with the outcome and just hope that I have enough pieces to make a cohesive display. I will let you know how i goes and I will take some before and after shots of the exhibition room. Fingers crossed!!!

Yesterday I had my kiln on and have started work on quite a few new pieces.  They are due for delivery very shortly, so I had better hustle.  Six pieces are needed for the Christmas Shop at the Bunbury Regional Art Gallery.  I’m not sure what six yet and the rest are due in Busselton for there Summer Shop at the Artgeo Building.  I will have to do extra pieces for Busso as I am low on stock at the Courthouse Gallery in Busselton as well.  Plenty of work so little time.  I wish sometimes that I could just stay in the workshop and not have to come out to feed people and animals or do chores.  In an idyllic world I would be a studio hermit and not have to dress, just live in my p.j’s and do my artwork for days on end and not answer the door.  It would not be pretty but I would get plenty done !!!
