26th March… Easter Saturday

Recently I had the good fortune to meet Rowena Mitchell from The Artisan Store in High Street, Fremantle.  What a beautiful gallery and it is made up of a good eclectic range of artworks.  The shop is made of different display areas and as it is a co-op, you can pick what suits your art and the lovely part is you don’t have to be there yourself for your art to sell.  The Gallery is in a great area of Fremantle on High St., but really easy to get to and explore.  If you are in the area make sure you pop in and say Hello to Rowena and check out not only MY artwork but all the other goodies as well.  This is a preview of what I’ve sent to The Artisan Gallery….

I’ve been busy in the workshop and even though I havnt written anything in my blog for a million years I havnt been sitting around doing nothing!!!
Ive started some small boats with maps which are very cute and I’m working on some small pieces to sell at markets in the upcoming months. I’m also desperately seeking a new workshop! I have outgrown where I am and so have spent the last couple of months scouring my neighbourhood looking for somewhere that can fit all my treasures and my kiln and me and be affordable!! Not easy. I have my eye on a couple of spots and have yet to approach the owners. Its a long haul decision and I dont want to move and then have to move again so it has to be right. I’m even considering combining a workshop with a small gallery space but its so expensive. Any ideas let me know….
I’ve also started a small Etsy Shop which is exciting, but I can only list a few simple pieces as my art is very hard to post so I’m limiting my worry for that. Though because I am new to Etsy I’m not sure how to get people interested. I will have to take a course maybe, and last but not least I’ve started Instagram as well so lots for you to check out…

At this time of the year I’m trying to do about seven things at once and right at this moment have decided to make some beautiful greeting cards, at first they were going to be christmas cards but I have wandered off that track and am now doing cards that are “Greetings from the South-West”  I have collected over the years quite a lot of beach glass, of course, no where nearly as beautiful as they find in Scotland and England or even Russia but still lovely and tumbled into strange shapes.  So this is how the card idea started, but then I have veered off abit and am using broken shell as well because they are beautiful as well.  I think that in the not to distant future there will be no beach glass washed up anymore, so maybe I will become a hoarder so my grandchildren can see what I’m talking about.

I’m also doing a selection of small boats which I have just added the resin to today, so they are drying ad I have an appointment with my kiln very soon as I need some sails for my little boats.

All very busy in the workshop, will TRY and keep you posted….

First day back in the workshop!! I must admit my studio is a absolute pigsty but I can’t work up the energy (or time) to give it a good clean. It’s a full day’s work so it will have to wait. So doing any wedging or rolling is out of the question but I have been able to get a few bits & pieces finished and I’m waiting for a few mounts to dry after painting. Here’s a taste…..

Happy New Year to everyone, once again we are heading into a new year and the idea of starting a fresh year with fresh ideas and all the enthusiasm that makes you want to get out there and get started. I have lots of ideas and can’t wait for them to take shape. This year I hope I can fulfil some of my dreams that I secretly nurture. I’m hoping to condense my actual work time so I have more time in my studio. ( I have a normal job as well). I’m finding I have not enough workshop time and my work in 2014 suffered for it. So my resolution is to spring clean my workshop so I have more room to move, reorganise my time so I have better work time, and introduce all the ideas swimming around in my head and make them come to fruition!!!!
