I’ve been busy in the workshop and even though I havnt written anything in my blog for a million years I havnt been sitting around doing nothing!!!
Ive started some small boats with maps which are very cute and I’m working on some small pieces to sell at markets in the upcoming months. I’m also desperately seeking a new workshop! I have outgrown where I am and so have spent the last couple of months scouring my neighbourhood looking for somewhere that can fit all my treasures and my kiln and me and be affordable!! Not easy. I have my eye on a couple of spots and have yet to approach the owners. Its a long haul decision and I dont want to move and then have to move again so it has to be right. I’m even considering combining a workshop with a small gallery space but its so expensive. Any ideas let me know….
I’ve also started a small Etsy Shop which is exciting, but I can only list a few simple pieces as my art is very hard to post so I’m limiting my worry for that. Though because I am new to Etsy I’m not sure how to get people interested. I will have to take a course maybe, and last but not least I’ve started Instagram as well so lots for you to check out…

Another day in the workshop, yeehah!!! I’ve finished the little bitty boats and glazed them and I’ve finished the sails and glazed them as well and I’ve put the kiln on again and filled it with as much as I can. The only trouble is I’ve ran out of kiln props for all the fiddler glazed bits, I must remember to go on line and buy some more as this happens every time I never have enough to go around.
What do you think of this pair of lovelies? They are currently living in my back garden on a bench but I need to find them a new home amongst the foliage maybe.

I have spent a long and happy day yesterday working in my studio. It is such a mess but I did sweep the floor!!! However I have accomplished a small amount and the kiln has cooled nearly so I will unpack that this afternoon.

The wooden mounts are ready for their little bitty boats and one of the areas that I enjoy are adding all the finishing touches to their personalities.
My daughter who in her younger days used to collect strange things (wonder where she gets that from!) has kindly given me a full jar of rusty bottle tops to use for the vessels so I’m in luck as otherwise I would be scouring the sides of the road!!!!! She feels that she won’t find a use for them herself. Her loss my gain.
Also I was given this beautiful piece of wire from a friend which I am trying to keep as it is, so my mind has started picturing it in its finished piece already.

Finally did a glaze firing last Sunday, it seems to be taking me forever to do anything at the moment, its cold and I dont want to go outside, BUT…..   the firing was successful (thank god!!!)  so I got all my pieces glazed and fired and ready to assemble.  Im finishing this all off on Saturday and then I have a bisque firing to do that day as well.  So busy, busy….

IMG_0486 I’ve had the kiln on twice this week, the first for a bisque firing which all went well and now all is ready for the glazing, and the second time for my glazed reef form. I would have liked the colour a bit greener, but I’m still ok with it, the rest is a clear crackle which I am going to lightly ink and then it is going to wear a little jacket of found objects. I think it will look pretty good when it is finished and is going to be off in September for a show. I have also been playing with a new design concept which I found through Origami but sort of works with porcelain. I will keep you posted….

Absolutely Perfect....

Absolutely Perfect….

The month has gone so fast and here we are into another one!!!! I am still waiting for my kiln to be fixed (ho hum) it is taking so long.. BUT in the meantime I am trying to keep positive and have kept busy in my studio making a few new things and experimenting with different shapes. So far so good. They are mainly functional pieces (for a change) an they are looking ok, I need to do as much as I can now and worry about the firing later, so least I will have everything ready to go once my kiln is fixed. SOOOoooo, after writing this blog I am going to have a cuppa and finally open my new ceramic review. Bliss…

The kiln is on and now I wait.
I have inked the sphere vase and applied the driftwood, it looks fantastic and I’m waiting for whats in the kiln to apply the finishing touches to the wood. I’ve got the larger boats ready for the resin but cant go any further without the last pieces as well. Fingers crossed the kiln works well.
